Private/Out-of-State Colleges

  • There are over 70 independent colleges and universities in California represented by AICCU (Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities) and thousands of out-of-state universities.  Private/Out-of-State campuses are extremely diverse- ranging from large to small in size, faith-based colleges, research universities, performing and visual arts colleges, “non-traditional” programs, and specialized professional schools.

*Admission requirements vary by college/university so it is important to research the specific college/university in order to ensure that requirements are met.

**Applications and deadlines and price vary by college/university however several AICCU campuses use the Common Application for admissions purposes.

    Western Undergraduate Exchange

WUE stands for the Western Undergraduate Exchange, a program through which students can attend participating institutions in other states for reduced tuition. Instead of paying full out-of-state tuition, a WUE participant pays the regular in-state tuition plus 50 percent of that amount. Below are the states that are participants in the Western Undergraduate Exchange. More information can be found on the Western Interstate Commission For Higher Education Website.
