Weekly Newsletter Week of September 23, 2024 | | |

| | | | | Dear Families,
As we wrap up the first week of CAASPP testing for our juniors, I want to thank our students and staff for their focus and cooperation. Testing will continue through May 7th, and we encourage all students to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Parents, your support at home—whether it's offering words of encouragement or helping create a calm, distraction-free evening—can make all the difference. These final testing sessions are a chance for students to show what they’ve learned, and we believe in their ability to succeed. A huge thank you to Ms. Idali Serrano, our C-VUSD Workability Coordinator, for organizing a memorable trip to Covina High School’s Farm for our ATP Adults. The students from Covina High who served as tour guides did a phenomenal job making the experience both engaging and fun! Your warmth and hospitality did not go unnoticed! We also had the honor of recognizing two of our PTSA Fairvalley Senior Scholarship recipients this week. Hearing their heartfelt acceptance speeches was a powerful reminder of the resilience, growth, and purpose our students carry with them. As a principal, it fills me with pride to know that our school has played even a small role in their journeys. With just four weeks remaining in the school year, there's an unmistakable sense of excitement on campus. Seniors are looking toward graduation, and students of all grade levels are preparing to close out their year strong. While we celebrate all that's ahead, I encourage every student to remain focused and finish the year with determination and integrity. Let’s keep showing up, supporting one another, and finishing what we started together.
Sincerely, Rebecca Handzel Principal | | | | | | | This week, our Adult Transition Program (ATP) students had the opportunity to visit Covina High School’s farm, and it was a fantastic experience for all. The visit provided a unique hands-on learning opportunity where students explored the farm, met various animals, and engaged with the environment in a meaningful way. The day was filled with smiles, curiosity, and plenty of memorable moments. Our students enjoyed connecting with the Covina High staff and students, and we’re grateful for their hospitality. Experiences like these continue to enrich our program and help our adults build confidence and life skills outside the classroom. | | | | | | Join us for an exciting opportunity to connect with local employers and career resources! This training is not just a valuable skill to have; it can be life-saving. Knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) gives you the ability to act in emergencies, help others, and make a difference in your community. Plus, CPR/AED certification is a fantastic addition to your resume, showing future employers or colleges your readiness to step up when it matters most.
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity! All interested students should sign up with Ms. Handzel as soon as possible to secure your spot. Let’s work together to build a safer and more prepared school community! | | | Demitra Christine Demitra is using Smore to create beautiful newsletters |
